Michigan United Action members are door-knocking in a big way to defend democracy in Flint, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Saginaw, and more. MUA members are hitting the streets to encourage people to get out and vote, and in support of the group’s endorsed candidates.
“Saginaw, get out and vote by August 6!” MUA members cheered in a video celebrating the effort.
In Detroit, canvassers spoke with their neighbors about the new Taking Back our Power campaign, which supports legislation to prevent regulated monopoly corporations and companies seeking or holding government contracts, like DTE Energy and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, from making political contributions.
To support these efforts, MUA held a statewide movement politics training on July 11, with followup trainings scheduled in multiple cities.
These trainings incorporate many of the materials and lessons learned at People’s Action’s Movement Politics Training for Trainers in Philadelphia in June.
