NEWS RELEASE

CHICAGO, ILL.–People’s Action released the following statement from Executive Director Sulma Arias in support of Ohio Organizing Collaborative and condemning Trump’s attempts to intimidate voting rights advocates.

“Trump wants to steal the 2026 midterms. That’s why Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel are attacking Ohio Organizing Collective. This weekend’s New York Times review of recent polling shows that Trump’s core of support, blue-collar White men, are abandoning him and his catastrophic agenda. That’s why they plan to intimidate people and rig the system to try to stay in power.

“We stand in solidarity with Ohio Organizing Collective and all civil rights organizations and working class voters of all races and genders.

“We will not be intimidated. Black and brown organizers have organized, and bled for the right to vote and to have their votes count. This intimidation attempt will fail, and it’s making it clear that voting is an act of resistance. We are going to exercise that right, we will organize to protect each other, and we will win the country that all of us deserve. ”

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 38 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
