West Virginia Citizen Action Group is expanding its training programs as it builds towards the Organizing Revival goals of doubling its membership and offering new leadership development opportunities.

In April, West Virginia Citizen Action Group hosted a three-day power planning session with People’s Action facilitators Ellen Glover and Ben Ishibashi. The group plays an active role in People’s Action’s rural, People and Planet First and Health Care for All cohorts, and participated in our takeover of the lobby of United Healthcare Group in Minneapolis to protest health insurance claim denials.

The group, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year, has embraced the Organizing Revival’s powerbuilding goals of doubling their membership by the end of 2025, and prioritizing leadership development by creating local training programs. On May 11, WVCAG hosted a free Fundamentals of Organizing training at the Kanawha County Public Library.
