PLAN Nevada members were amongst the more than a thousand Nevadans who rallied outside the Reno offices of Republican U.S. Representative Mark Amodei on March 15, when he refused to meet with his constituents during the March Congressional Recess.

“This isn’t rocket science,” protester Christiane Brown told local news station KTVN about why more than a thousand northern Nevadans like her turned out to fill the sidewalks in front of U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei’s office after he refused to meet with constituents. “Everybody knows that we don’t need to tear apart Medicare, or Medicaid, that we don’t need to take away protections for the disabled.”

PLAN members did discuss Republicans’ planned cuts to essential services with U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford (CD-4) at a Town Hall organized by SEIU.

“811,000 Nevadans will be impacted by these cuts,” Horsford said. “And it’s not only the people who are on Medicaid – that’s one in three Nevadans – if they lose coverage, it’s going to impact health care for all of us.”

While in town, Horsford also joined the “Fighting Oligarchy” rally with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Las Vegas on March 20.
