WASHINGTON, D.C.–People’s Action today endorsed Jamaal Bowman in his bid to represent New York’s 16th Congressional District ahead of the June 23 New York Democratic primary election. Bowman is running a movement politics, people-powered campaign and will fight for the People’s Action People’s Platform once elected. Community Voices Heard Power!, a People’s Action New York member organization, also endorsed him. Bowman seeks to unseat a 16-term incumbent, Rep. Eliot Engel.

Jamaal Bowman has been an educator and advocate for public schools for over 20 years and most recently served as principal for the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action (CASA), a public middle school he founded in 2009 in the Baychester neighborhood of The Bronx. Dr. Bowman is running for New York’s 16th Congressional District and is rejecting all corporate PAC and lobbyist contributions. He is a life-long New Yorker who now lives in Yonkers with his wife and their three kids.
