WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action and Amplifier launched a new, multi-pronged art campaign, REFRAME 2021, with 12 musicians, community leaders, and activists that will reach tens of millions of people nationwide to jumpstart hard conversations and build bridges across different backgrounds and places of origin. The campaign centers around a new Amplifier portrait series of these leaders, each bearing one theme word that encapsulates their vision for how communities can come together to make a better future.  The campaign will reach rural and urban communities through groundbreaking technology like an augmented reality app which makes the art come alive on a phone; traditional outreach tactics such as billboards, wheatpasting, and palm cards; and innovative strategies through educational lesson plans, earthworks, and stunts. Renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Noa Denmon, LMNOPI, and Ernesto Yerena were commissioned for the campaign.

“This art campaign is innovative and soulful, just like People’s Action’s organizing in rural communities,” People’s Action Senior Strategic Adam Kruggel said. “Our member leaders are game-changers in their communities and we are so proud to partner with Amplifier to share their stories. We hope this art will help people start having these hard conversations so we can build the America we know we can be.”

“We believe that artists, and powerful storytelling in visual campaigns like this one, don’t just get us through the storm to the other side, they can help reshape the world to write a new story,” Amplifier Founder and Creative Director Aaron Huey said.

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 38 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
