The LUCHA Blue Campaign is on track to talk to 1 million voters across Arizona, and already it’s showing the nation the power of organizing and building power on the ground.
In July, LUCHA worked to elect former Arizona State Rep. Raquel Teran for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. LUCHA and People’s Action endorsed Teran earlier this year for the district. Raquel has a history of organizing Arizona, working to oust anti-immigrant politicians like Arpaio and Russel Pierce and creating opportunities to build power communities in the state.
Despite their opponent receiving support from Trump and corporate donors, LUCHA Blue narrowed Teran’s opponent’s election night lead of 1,406 votes to 42, which triggered a recount.
Though the recount ultimately determined that Raquel’s opponent narrowly won, the LUCHA Blue campaign continues to work to ensure every vote is counted, support immigrants and reproductive rights, defeat Trump, and flip the legislature in November.
