It is the responsibility of all who want democracy and freedom to survive in this nation
to vote against fascism and the agenda of hate and racism.

PITTSBURGH – A year ago, Dan Doubet, executive director of Keystone Progress, Pennsylvania’s largest progressive organization, wrote that the rise of Pennsylvania’s racist right is a warning to the nation.

This weekend the warning was brought to tragic light with the murder of 11 Jewish people inside the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

It takes a village to create a hate crime, and it is abundantly clear that the suspect in Saturday’s attack got all of the messages loud and clear from right-wing media and candidates in a strategic and coordinated mainstreaming of racism and hate.

Glenn Beck is on record saying it was George Soros, specifically, orchestrating and funding the caravan of refugees heading north to the U.S. border. The story is repeated by Rush Limbaugh and President Trump.

Scott Wagner, the Republican candidate for governor in Pennsylvania, publicly calls Soros a “Hungarian Jew” who has a “hatred for America.”

“Because suspect Robert Bowers felt so much urgency and fear about a hostile invasion, orchestrated by Jews, he went to a local synagogue and killed as many as he possibly could,” writes Doubet.

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 38 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
