Every week, People’s Action shares actions you can take online and with our member groups

When People’s Action Institute found out that Edison Electric Institute — a fossil fuel industry front group — was listed on the Climate Week NYC website as a sponsor, you jumped into action.

EEI has lobbied against EPA pollution limits and funded groups that block public power and community-owned renewable energy. It represents an industry that has abandoned commitments to reduce emissions while raising costs for us and doubling down on dirty, expensive fossil fuels.

So more than 1,000 people inundated Climate Week NYC with a flood of emails calling for corporate polluters to be removed as sponsors. And now, EEI and others have been removed from their public-facing list.

This is a win at a time when we need wins most. This is proof that corporate leadership on climate cannot be bought.

Saturday: Deep Canvass for Democracy
At a time when so many people feel disconnection, distrust and uncertainty, our ability to engage across differences isn’t just a skill – It’s how we save our democratic norms.

Deep canvassing is a tool that has proved we can build across differences and win the things we need in our lives. It uses curiosity and storytelling to give people a new perspective and energy to fight for change.

Whether you want to deepen connection as a community leader, neighbor or within your own family, join People’s Action Institute this Saturday to learn how to deep canvass.
Labor Day: Add Trainings to Picnics and Parades

This Labor Day, we’re joining the May Day Strong network in calling for the Solidarity Schools that we need to skill up and build up the movement to confront the billionaire agenda attacking our neighbors, our voting rights, and making life unlivable to be more ready for the moments we know are coming.

This nationwide training program will cover topics like political education on how billionaires seized the economy, how to build your base and build alignments across your community, and how to organize and plan an escalation.

Find out how to host a training in your community (and check out the host toolkit if you need some help!)
Find Out Where Your Elected Officials Stand on Medicare for All

Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon just said for the first time that he’s “all in” on Medicare for All because it’s “one of the best tools to hold down costs and ensure everyone has the health care they need.”

But days later, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced his opposition to the policy supported by a majority of Democrats. It’s time to get all our leaders on the record.

Take Action: Join People’s Action Institute in pressing your members of Congress to endorse Medicare for All.
