People’s Action Proudly Endorses Sara Innamorato for County Executive for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania

Organization Adds Inamorato to its People’s Slate

WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action today endorsed Sara Innamorato for Allegheny County Executive. Innamorato is an organizer and working-class champion who has represented District 21 in the Pennsylvania State Legislature since 2019. She co-wrote, introduced and helped pass the Whole Home Repairs Act, the first of its kind in the nation, which secured $125 million to weatherize and preserve housing for families and seniors while creating jobs for local workers.

“This race is critical, nationally as well as locally, on climate change,” People’s Action Director of Movement Politics Marta Popadiak said. “Allegheny County is a major contributor to climate pollution as one of the largest fracked-gas producers in the world. The winning candidate will have the power to regulate polluting industries in the region.”

Innamorato is running a movement politics, people-powered campaign and will govern alongside People’s Action’s member groups in Pennsylvania to advance wins for the multiracial working class. Innamorato is also endorsed by People’s Action partners Pennsylvania Stands Up and Pennsylvania United, as well as the Working Families Party.

“We are facing a climate crisis, and in Allegheny County we have an opportunity to transform our economy to invest in clean, green, and sustainable solutions,” Innamorato said. “I’m running for County Executive because we need leadership that will unapologetically fight back against corporate greed, invest in affordable housing, and protect our rights. We can create shared prosperity for all of us, we just need the political will.”

People’s Action’s Movement Politics program recruits, runs, and elects progressives into local and statewide offices across the country. Since 2016, People’s Action has helped elect over 450 movement politics candidates. The program focuses on electing women, people of color, low-income and working class people who are grounded in progressive movement building with our member organizations.
