WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action along with its member organization Community Voices Heard Power (CVH Power) today cheered the four New York City Council candidates that they co-endorsed who won their elections: Althea Stevens and Amanda Farias in the Bronx, Crystal Hudson in Brooklyn, and Tiffany Caban in Queens. The candidates are running movement politics, people-powered campaigns and will fight for the People’s Action People’s Platform once elected. People’s Action helped secure these wins through its innovative deep canvassing program to turnout voters.

“It’s clear that New Yorkers are hungry for progressive power and tangible change,” People’s Action Movement Politics Director Brooke Adams said. “These results prove people-powered campaigns that run on issues our communities care about, like reimagining public safety, can win. We’re excited to co-govern with these candidates once they’re in office to ensure that they take care of their communities.”

“Our members, who are directly impacted by many of the issues we fight for, really delivered this election cycle. We knew we couldn’t afford to sit on the sidelines and this was our chance to get true representation. Our fight definitely continues but with true partners who are committing to actually working with us when it comes down to affordable housing, tenant rights and economic justice,” CVH Power Member Yolanda Torres said.

CVH Power also endorsed other candidates who won their races:

  • Bronx: Marjorie Velasquez
  • Queens: Selvena Brooks-Powers
  • Brooklyn: Jennifer Gutierrez and Sandy Nurse
