WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action today announced the results of its deep canvassing campaign to turn out voters in the Georgia Senate runoff elections in support of Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. People’s Action focused on turning out students, Asian-Americans, and people living in rural areas who don’t frequently vote. People’s Action partnered with its special projects, Student Action and Justice is Global, and local organizations like Southerners On New Ground (SONG) and Black Voters Matter Fund to call over 1.2 million voters, text over 1.6 million voters, and have conversations with more than 23,000 voters.

“We know it’s critical that we win in Georgia. Mitch McConnell and the Republican-controlled Senate have blocked desperately needed and comprehensive COVID relief again and again,” People’s Action Distributed Organizing Director Brooke Adams said. “That’s why we decided to use our unique and powerful deep canvassing program to support groups on the ground and help flip the Senate.”

People’s Action showed up for Georgia by:

  • Calling over 1.2 million people;
  • Texting over 1.6 million people;
  • Having conversations with over 23,000 people;
  • Persuading 58.7% of people canvassers had conversations with to vote for Ossoff and Warnock; and
  • Signing up over 5,500 volunteers to deep canvass.

This presidential election season, People’s Action’s robust distributed organizing program called more than 47.3 million voters in battleground states and had more than 280,000 in-depth phone conversations, helping to deliver Biden’s margin of victory. Deep canvass phone calls are candid conversations between canvassers and voters in which participants reflect on the experiences that shape what’s at stake for them. People’s Action released results from a deep canvass experiment it conducted showing that the method is about 102 times more effective at moving individual voters than the typical presidential persuasion program.
