WASHINGTON, D.C.–People’s Action Director of Movement Politics Ryan Greenwood today released the following statement in response to projected reports that Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) defeated her primary challenger:

“Today’s results show that putting people and our planet over profit is a winning combination. People all across Michigan’s 13th Congressional District overwhelmingly backed Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and People’s Action couldn’t have been prouder to endorse her. It’s clear that Michiganders are hungry for the progressive leadership of someone who understands what it’s like to be part of the multi-racial working class and who will fight tooth and nail for us and our movement. We’re excited to continue supporting Rep. Tlaib and send her back to Congress in November.”

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 40 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. The Nation called our Iowa presidential forum the “most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.
